Mouse intestinal organoids are derived from the intestinal crypts of the mouse small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum), which contain Lgr5+ intestinal stem cells.Organoids contain all cell types of the intestinal epithelium: intestinal stem cells (Lgr5+), Paneth cells (Paneth cells), goblet cells (goblet cells), enteroendocrine cells (enteroendocrine cells) and absorbent intestinal cells (enterocytes).This is currently the most classic and mature organoid culture system. It was first reported by Sato et al. (2009) in the journal Nature, pioneering the entire field of organoids.
