The mouse colon organoids are derived from the intestinal crypts of the mouse colon and contain Lgr5+ colon stem cells.Compared with the small intestine organoids, the colon organoids lack Pan's cells, but contain more cup-shaped cells and enteroendocrine cells.Colon organoids grow slowly, and it usually takes 7-10 days to form a mature budding structure.The main functions of the colon epithelium include water absorption, electrolyte balance, and mucus secretion. Organoids can reproduce these functional characteristics.
