The mouse airway organoids are derived from basal stem cells of the mouse trachea and bronchial epithelium. These cells express markers such as TP63 and KRT5/KRT14.Airway organoids can self-renew and differentiate into secretory cells (club cells, SCGB1A1+), ciliated cells (FOXJ1+/acetylated α-tubulin+) and goblet cells (goblet cells, MUC5AC+).The airway epithelium of mice is a false-coated columnar epithelium, with basal cells accounting for about 30%, which is the main source of stem cells for regeneration after epithelial injury.This organoid model is suitable for the study of airway development, cystic fibrosis (CF), primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), asthma and respiratory tract infections and other diseases.
