The organoids of the gallbladder of crab-eating monkeys are derived from cholangiocytes in the epithelium of the gallbladder.The gallbladder is an organ that stores and concentrates bile. Its mucosal epithelium is a single-layer columnar epithelium, mainly composed of bile duct cells, expressing keratin KRT7, KRT19, CFTR and other markers.Bile duct cells are responsible for the modification and transportation of bile, expressing a variety of drug metabolism enzymes and transporter proteins.Gallbladder Cholangiocyte-derived organoids (GCOs) can be used to study bile acid metabolism, biliary tract diseases, and drug transport.LGR5+adult stem cells are present in the epithelium of the gallbladder and can self-renew and form organoid structures under Wnt signal activation conditions.The non-human primate gallbladder is highly conserved with humans in terms of anatomical structure and physiological function, and its bile acid composition and drug transporter expression profile are similar, making it an ideal model for studying bile acid-related drug metabolism.
