Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer, accounting for 75-85% of all liver cancer.HCC organoid is derived from patients' surgical resection specimens, liver transplantation waste tissues, or biopsy samples.HCC organoid retains the histological characteristics of the primary tumor (such as AFP, ALB, HepPar-1 expression), genomic characteristics (TP53, CTNNB1, AXIN1, TERT promoter and other common mutations) and drug response profiles.The occurrence of HCC is often related to the background of chronic liver disease (HBV/HCV infection, alcoholic liver disease, NASH).Unlike normal liver organoids, HCC organoids usually do not rely on exogenous Wnt3a, Noggin, and R-spondin to grow, reflecting the autonomous activation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in tumor cells.
